I mainly remember how we evicted people - “squatters”, so to say - from the 10 kilometer zone – from Stechanka. Old people are accustomed to their old haunts. Though it was all fenced with barbed wire – the whole guarded 30 kilometer zone. And the 10 kilometer zone was also guarded, but the villagers, like bush fighters, sneaked back home by secret paths and lived in their villages, in their log cabins. Well, you know, the people who have lived their entire life in one place, where they know every nook and every corner – how can they leave?
